Avoid these Beauty Mistakes

Make-up is supposed to enhance your features, not ruin your overall look. And as much as possible, it must look natural on you. Putting on make-up is art on its own and must be properly applied. If you do not learn how to properly apply it, instead of making you more beautiful, the tendency is for you to look all wrong and unnatural. There are beauty mistakes that are commonly committed and I created a list so you can avoid them.

  1. White neck – Forgetting to apply foundation on the neck and cleavage will look all wrong unless you are wearing a turtle neck top.
  2. Wrong foundation – Choose a base powder that match your skin perfectly after all, it is supposed to blend on your skin. It is supposed to even out the skin, not mask it. If it is too obvious on your face, then it is probably the wrong shade.
  3. Fragrance layering – putting on too much fragrance or layering different scents will lead to pungent smell. Not pretty for the nostrils!
  4. Not learning about your eye-shape – there are techniques and styles in applying eye-make up. You must understand the technique fit for your eye-shape for the perfect output.
  5. Not exfoliating the skin – Your skin will look dull and lifeless if remnants of make-up and dead skin cells are not properly removed. Exfoliate once a week and moisturize daily.

Picture-Perfect Makeup

So you go to an event, have pictures of you taken then later see the shots. To your horror, your face either looked so washed-out or you wonder what ever happened to your make-up! You remember looking your best in the morning but that night just did not cut it.

These are common concerns of women who does their own make-up. We usually do not know how to keep it nice looking and lasting for the entire day and night. Here are a few tips I found that might help.

Apply moisturizer before putting on anything else. Especially during winter, the skin gets too dry and lacks in moisture. The tendency is for the face to suck in the moisture from your makeup. Yes, a moisturizer is important.

After the moisturizer and before the foundation, apply a foundation primer. This product will help keep your foundation on and comes in varieties based on your skin-type namely photo finish, color correcting primer and anti-shine.

Lastly, invest in a good highlighting pen or cream to hide dark circles under the eyes. This will help diffuse light and can make you look bright and refreshed. A good highlighting cream can also be used to contour cheekbones.

Fall and Winter Skin Care

Fall and Winter can get pretty harsh on the skin because of the cold. The tendency is for us to stay indoors and subject our skin to unnecessary heat that causes natural moisture to lose. It is advised to apply moisturizer during this climate to take care of the skin. Moisturizing everyday is actually the key, as well as applying sunscreen before going outdoors. The sun has long term effects on the skin and it may not show until later when it could be too late already.

Here are some tips for the skin to look its best during this season:

  1. Lock in moisture.
  2. Vitalize skin with vitamins.
  3. Exfoliate and rejuvenate.
  4. Keep your skin hydrated.
  5. Always always use sunscreen.
